Description: Oregon bladesmith Joe Edson specializes in straight razors and kitchen knives. His work, whether a razor or chef’s knife is truly razor sharp!
Joe began by creating a bar of san mai damascus steel. Hitachi Shirogami 2 (white steel) steel is tremendously high performing, with an extremely keen edge. 22 layers of carbon steel damascus surround the white steel core. Shirogami, with its small crystalline size, allows for a tremendously sharp, responsive edge. The top of the blade and flats are forge finished. It features a compound hollow grind. This grinding technique combines two different hollow sizes to result in a keen, thin edge with slightly more strength behind it. The blade finishes in a Spanish point. The rounded tip helps avoid accidental cuts.
Handle scales are made from Shokwood. This unique material combines natural burl wood with urethane based resin. The resulting scales will hold up beautifully to daily use. Copper accents on the pins bring in warm tones. A reconstituted stone spacer provides a durable, rigid construction. This handle will protect the blade well during storage.
Exceptional work throughout!
