Description: Oregon bladesmith Joe Edson specializes in straight razors and kitchen knives. His work, whether a razor or chef’s knife is truly razor sharp!
The kamisori is a Japanese style of razor that has been around before the European straight razor. The classic Japanese construction provides a perfect grip and incredible shave. Seated in your hand, it is perfectly weighted. Add this piece to your morning shave and take pride in your grooming ritual!
Joe began by forging a bar of steel combining an ultra high performing cutting edge (hagane) with a softer protective side (jigane). The side is formed from 22 layers of steel forged together into damascus. The spine and handle are nicely rounded for a secure, comfortable grip. The blade features an asymmetrical full hollow grind for a keen, thin, high performing edge.
This kamisori is accompanied by a carved edge protector made from dyed and stabilized snakeskin sycamore (Platanus occidentalis). We recommend using camellia oil to protect the razor from rust.
Exceptional work throughout!
